Averitt Recognized as 2021 Military Friendly
Company
(November 9, 2020) COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As a result of its continuing commitment to military
veterans, Averitt Express was recently designated a 2021 Military
Friendly Company.
This
marks the second consecutive year that Averitt has been recognized in the national
survey. The Military Friendly® Company survey was compiled by veteran-owned
business Viqtory. According to its website, Military Friendly Employers
“strive toward and succeed in the areas that matter most in helping veterans
and other members of the military community make the transition from the
military to satisfying employment in the civilian world.”
Additionally, Viqtory says Military
Friendly Employers are “better for veterans, with the hiring, retention,
advancement and employee development programs in place to help them reach their
career goals.”
As
part of the survey, Viqtory polled military veterans, and combined those
results with public data to determine the companies that meet the stringent
Military Friendly Employer criteria. The results were then audited by the
professional services firm Ernst & Young.
“When it comes to teamwork, military veterans set the bar
through their dedication to serving together to protect our nation,” said Gary
Sasser, Averitt’s chairman and chief executive officer, and a veteran of the
U.S. Marine Reserves. “The foundation of Averitt is built upon teamwork and the
idea that the greater whole better serves our customers and communities than
one individual. We call it the 'power of one.'
"We are honored to be recognized for our ongoing
commitment of hiring veterans, and we look forward to continuing enabling
veterans to excel within our industry."
In
2016, Averitt made a pledge to hire 1,200 veterans by 2020. The company
achieved and exceeded its goal in 2019.
