Dear #FirstName#,

We don't know where you will be when you read this, but we'll bet wherever you are, it's hot! And, if it's not, it has been. There must be something to this global warming thing. The globe sure has been hot this summer!

And, talking about hot, the letter from Charles Drasher in the last edition of the e-Report certainly was a hot topic.

Here's a sampling of some the e-mails we received.

Subject: A Newbie with old roots

I read the letter from Mr.Drasher and as a new driver in the industry (2 yrs) I too am troubled by the winds of change.

My Dad is an old school trucker, 69 and going strong, still working part time and retired from Southeastern Freight Lines 5 yrs now. He is and always has been a "company man" from the old sense of the phrase. He taught me the road, and the way to blend with all types of people with a smile.
But I'm afraid that time has passed. He sees it just as I do. There's no respect in the industry anymore. ..

Keep em shiny side up!

PS: Feel free to use this letter...I know I'm not alone.

What I had to say was said by Charles E. Drasher, all in a nut shell, it couldn't be said any better without writing a book...

Thanks Charles you said it all!

I would like to elaborate on Mr. Drasher's email. He's absolutely right...about the recruiters being liars. They are recruiting drivers that expect more, but get a hell of a lot less!

Carrier of the Month
National Freight

National Freight began in 1932 with a single truck and an intense drive to succeed. Over the years, the company has grown to become one of the largest trucking companies in the country - as well as diversifying to become one of America's top 10 warehousing corporations and leading real estate development companies serving the logistics industry.

Today National Freight, together with other NFI companies, are a $650 million a year national logistics leader - still family owned and operated with core values of dedication, integrity and service excellence that have defined this company for over 70 years.

NFI Industries, Inc traces its roots to the firm founded in 1932 by Israel Brown - a man with a dream and a vision to establish a regional business for transporting goods. The company was headquartered in Vineland, NJ and was originally known as National Hauling.

In the beginning, the company principally operated dump trucks, but diversified their services over the years.

Important growth occurred in World War II as the company received its operating certificate and won important work with the construction of the General Services Administration Depot in Belle Mead, NJ. As a result, the company had 15 trucks and trailers at the end of World War II.

The company continued to grow after the war and began hauling for the Veterans Administration in Hillsborough, NJ. It was about this time that Israel Brown's son, Bernard, became active in the business. Further growth occurred during the 1950s as the company bought or acquired ICC rights to operate in eight to ten Mid-Atlantic States. Important non-government customers during this period included Anchor Hocking and Owens Illinois and, as a result, the company began hauling glass bottles in closed trailers.

Through the years, more clients were added to the list and the company continued to grow. The company's most recent acquisitions were in 2002 and 2004.

In 2002, NFI acquired Core Carriers, a southeastern U.S. truckload carrier with 350 tractors and 900 trailers. The acquisition enabled National Freight to integrate Core Carriers' network with its dedicated fleet operations in the southeast. As a result, NFI was better positioned to optimize lane management for its dedicated contract carriage customers in the southeast region and also created more lane density for its OTR operations.

In 2004, National Freight acquired Campos' Express located in Tunkhannock, PA. The acquisition added 115 tractors and 450 trailers and a core service area of fourteen states within the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions. The acquisition in 2004 of Campos Express increased National Freight's coverage density in the Northeast, which allowed the company to service lanes in the region with greater efficiency and flexibility.

The company has continued to grow during the years and has become a leading truck operation offering nationwide TL, OTR and Dedicated transportation services. National Freight has taken one truck and

grown it into 6,000 pieces of equipment operating out of nearly 50 locations nationwide

National Freight is a national leader in safety. Its modern over-the-road fleet of 2,000 tractors and driver "ownership" ethic attracts the best driver in the country. National Freight operates nearly 50 trucking support centers and mobile maintenance facilities nationwide...providing a national reach for its customers...while maintaining a regional focus for their drivers.
