Subject: Hi

To the best web site, I am over the pond in England, and would like to say a big thank you to this web site, as it lets me know what's going on over there in the USA, having been a truck driver over here for 30 years, and visited Florida 4 times now, and would love to move over because we love it as the people are so friendly, and I would just love to drive one of your trucks.

Thank you, Ian

Thank you for writing to us Ian, and let us know if you make the move over.

MultiMedia's Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month
John William Manering

What do father and son, John Wayne Manering and John William Manering have in common? Both are company truck drivers for WH Transportation, Wausau, WI and both are participants in the Trucker Buddy program. However, John William Manering has the honor of being chosen as the February Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month.

Third grade teacher Kathy Madigan at Smithville Elementary School in Smithville, OH, and her students nominated their Trucker Buddy for Driver of the Month. "He's a true gem!" says Kathy. "He sent us pictures of landforms we were studying and he became our 'eyes' to the country. I cannot thank him enough for making Geography 'come to life' for my students. We began tracking him on our classroom map with a marker so we could see what states he'd visited. This really helped sharpen the student's mapping skills."

"We gave a stuffed rabbit named Blue Bouncer to show how much we appreciate him. He takes Blue Bouncer on all of his trips. Blue Bouncer keeps him company on the road," said concerned student Hannah. "I think he really cares about us because of all the things he does for us. He is the GREATEST!"

John lives in Jackson, OH and his wife, Dena, helps him prepare seasonal gifts and goodies for the students. They visit the class often and had a pizza party with the students.

John has made an impact on these children by adopting their class through the Trucker Buddy program in 2004. He is one of nearly 4,000 professional drivers who share their time with elementary classes throughout the world. The only criteria to be a Trucker Buddy is to be a truck driver and willing to send a postcard each week to a class in grades two through eight. Drivers and teachers can find out more about the program by visiting www.truckerbuddy.org or calling 1-800-MY BUDDY.

Each Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month receives a personalized jacket, along with a check for $300 to spend on the class and $200 in Trucker Buddy merchandise, compliments of ACS-MultiMedia, the advertising agency of choice for the trucking industry. They will also receive an IdleAire adaptor, a Koolatron cooler and a complete set of Airtabs for their tractor-trailer, as well as Donde Publishing’s “For the Long Haul,” a reference guide for drivers, and an Accident Photo pack. The class will receive a CrossCountry USA game from Ingenuity Works, which will help them learn more about how trucks move freight across the continent.

Trucker Buddy is dependent on corporate sponsors such as MultiMedia Advertising and TruckDriver.com to fund the program.

When it comes to the Super Bowl, you guys know your stuff, well over half (60%) of you picked the Steelers to win Super Bowl XL. A little over one quarter (27%) of you picked the Seahawks and the rest of you said you didn't know or didn't care.

Now, let's see how well you know your NASCAR stuff; take the Daytona 500 Survey.
