Dear {FName},

Well, the New Year is in full swing, have you stopped dating everything '07 yet?

In case you haven't heard, and who hasn't, it's an election year, so hold on to your hats and anything else you can get your hands on - '08 may be a bumpy ride!

So, keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel. Does that remind you of a song?

West Side Transport

The West Side organization was started by the Vogt family in the late 1960's. The business began by offering the service of salvaging grain spills at train yards. As the business grew, the company acquired semi-tractors and hopper trailers to accommodate customer needs. By the late 1970's, the founder's sons had taken over the business operations. After trucking deregulation in 1980, West Side expanded into additional trucking operations, primarily hauling grain for large grain processing operations. By the late 1980's the trucking operation had expanded rapidly into the truckload dry van business. By 1994 West Side was operating around 200 trucks. By 1997 the fleet had grown to 400 trucks and 900 trailers. As of September 2006, West Side operates over 400 trucks and 1,150 trailers.

Throughout the history of the company, business has been built on providing outstanding customer service. Everyone in the West Side organization realizes customers have many choices to meet their freight hauling needs. Providing excellent service, with extremely high levels of on-time performance provides West Side with a competitive advantage.

That commitment to service is reflected in every aspect of West Side Transport's business. They hire and retain only high-quality, safe, service oriented drivers. They compensate their drivers at the high end of the industry pay level and operate late-model equipment to provide maximum driver satisfaction.

West Side offers one of the most competitive pay packages in the trucking industry. Drivers are paid based on experience and performance. West Side drivers typically earn more than $55,000 annually.

West Side Transport has been in business for nearly 40 years. Their commitment to customer service and to their driver fleet is second to none.

Thanx Truckdriver.com team!

If I didn't know about your company I'd have still been in the dark and still sweating it out in the streets. You guys and gals provide a great service here. I'm going to tell all my buddies about your website. Fast reaction, great response time without you folks this wouldn't have been possible. Thanx again!

Editor: We'll take that as you found just the driving job you were looking for and say "Thanx for thanking us! You are welcome."

We had a lot of participants in the TruckDriver.com Job Search Survey this time and were presented with some interesting results. Here's the breakdown on the responses:

We asked you to complete the following sentence:

The best way to find a new driving job is -

Talk to another driver - 44%
Visit an online driver recruiting site - 28%
Check the newspaper classifieds - 20%
Contact a driver recruiter - 16%
Attend a job fair/truck show - 14%
Pick up an industry publication/magazine - 13%

You may very well ask, what makes it interesting?

Well, if you do the math, you'll come up with 135%!

But that's because participants were able to select as many options as they felt applied.

What makes it interesting is that some things never change and some things change a lot. (That sounded really profound when we wrote it, but not so much when we were proofreading it.)

Word of mouth (the advice of another driver) has always been the best method for finding a good driving job. Once upon a time, last century, the number two source would have been one of the print mediums, newspaper classifieds or industry publications. We're happy to say that online recruiting sites have surpassed both as the preferred method of finding employment. We're quite certain that the other industries have seen that trend as well. Let's face it, the internet is here to stay. And, hopefully, so are we.

So, with that said - check out the TruckDriver.com Online Survey and let us know what else you do online.

Until next time, keep on truckin' and please drive safely.
