Dear {FName},

It's March and we've gone wiki...

March is the third month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one of seven months with a length of 31 days.

March begins (according to non-sideral astrology ) with the sun in the sign of Pisces and ends in the sign of Aries. Astronomically speaking, the sun begins in the constellation of Aquarius and ends in the constellation of Pisces.

March in the Southern Hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent of September in the Northern Hemisphere.

The name of March comes from ancient Rome, when March was the first month of the year and called Martius after Mars, the Roman god of war. In Rome, where the climate is Mediterranean, March is the first month of spring, a logical point for the beginning of the year as well as the start of the military campaign season. The numbered year began on March 1 in Russia until the end of the fifteenth century. Great Britain and her colonies continued to use March 25 until 1752, the same year they finally adopted the Gregorian calendar. Many other cultures and religions still celebrate the beginning of the New Year in March.

In Finnish, the month is called maaliskuu, which originates from maallinen kuu meaning earthy month. This is because in maaliskuu earth started to show from under the snow. Historical names for March include the Saxon term Lenctmonat, named for the equinox and eventual lengthening of days and the eventual namesake of Lent. The Saxons also called March Rhed-monat (for their goddess Rhedam); ancient Britons called it hyld-monath (meaning loud or stormy).

No mention of lions or lambs, nothing about hares, nada on the Final Four and no shamrocks.

Nothing about daylight saving time (the official government spelling - no 's') beginning on March 9 this year.

And, not even a whisper about stopping by our booth at the Mid-America Truck Show on March 27-29. We'll be in booth 63004 this year. Drop by and see us.

Maybe we didn't wiki right. Next time we'll wiki left.

March begins with M, so does Mail Call and M sent us this eMail.

Isn't that Miraculous? Magnificent? Marvelous?

Maybe we Make too Much of it.

That is a mouth full that JLB talks about. I have heard my husband talk about how it used to be and how now days everyone is way too much just for themselves. They don't care about any one else. I've seen first hand where someone is stranded along the road and people just keep driving by. What is happening here?

I agree we all need to speak up other wise nothing will ever change. Then again, will someone listen or just turn a deaf ear. It usually takes something drastic before anything is done. I feel for all the families that have drivers out on the road while the wife or husband stays home trying to keep things together.

I know first hand first hand that it is not an easy job. When you have a truck driver in the family you not only miss them like crazy and hope they come back safe and sound, but it is like having to take care of two households. You want to make sure that all the clothes are ready to go back in the truck and the refrigerator is stocked up with groceries so it's not always truck stop food. I do know truck stop food gets old after while.

I have very high regards especially for the more older and wiser truck drivers out there that remember what it use to be like. It would be great if some of those young men would pay attention to what some of the older more experienced drivers are trying to tell them. Any way enough said. God Bless trucker driver .com for putting some of the opinions on line for us to read.

Editor: You said a mouthful yourself M, thanks.

The vote is in, that is to say the TruckDriver.com Political Party Party is officially over.

We asked for your political party affiliation and this is what you told us:

Constitutionalist 4.61%
Democrat 26.73%
Green Party Member 2.30%
Independent 23.50%
Libertarian 6.91%
Republican 32.26%
Other 3.69%

You know what is really interesting? Neither do we, but 41.01% of you are not affiliated with either one of the two traditional parties. Maybe Bob Dylan was right, the time's they are a-changin'.

And, speaking of change, if you'll scroll back up a bit, you'll see where we mentioned that March 9 begins Daylight Saving Time this year.  That means you will have to change your clocks by setting them forward one hour. The old 'Spring forward, Fall back' routine. Wouldn't you think that in today's 24/7 society that Daylight Saving Time would be meaningless.

Take the TruckDriver.com Beats the Daylights Out of Me Survey and give us your opinion. Are you a Daylight Saver?

Until next time, keep on truckin' and please drive safely.
