Dear {FName},

Beware the Ides of March.

You don't hear much about the Ides of March these days. Some of you may know the band The Ides of March; they had a number 2 hit on the Billboard charts with 'Vehicle' in 1970.

I'm your vehicle baby; I'll take you anywhere you wanna go...

Today is March 15, the Ides of March.

It's a Roman Calendar thing, best known as the date Julius Caesar was assassinated. Shakespeare made the Ides of March famous, or infamous, in his play Julius Caesar.

Either way, the Ides of March doesn't seem to get the same recognition it once did. That is why we mentioned it.

Here is something else that deserves more recognition, The TruckDriver.com Truck Driving Jobs searchable database. You can search for local and national truck driving jobs. Search for company or owner-operator opportunities. Search by state or province. Search by level of experience, type of job or date the job was posted.

And, by completing the TruckDriver.com easy application form, you can automatically be considered for new jobs within minutes of when they are posted. It also gets you considered for jobs with Truckdriver.com fleets that prefer to search our database for drivers rather than posting job openings.

It was just last Sunday that Daylight Saving Time went into effect. Time really does fly, especially when you lose an hour.

From the results of the TruckDriver.com Beats the Daylights Out of Me Survey many of you, 62%, thought that Daylight Saving Time was a waste of time.

32% of you didn't think so. And, 6% of you said you weren't into time.

Anybody know what the average on-time delivery percentage is for the trucking industry?

Wouldn't it be weird if it were 94%?

The time change is behind us and ahead of us is tax time. Tax time, one of the most dreaded times of the year. One more reason why April truly is the cruelest month.

Take the TruckDriver.com Tax Time Survey, it's not tax deductible, but it doesn't cost anything either, and let us know how you plan on coming out on your taxes this year.

Speaking of taxes, PBS Tax and Bookkeeping Service periodically sends out helpful tax tips to people who have previously contacted them for information or ordered their Truck Books Software or new book “Successful Trucking”.

Here is a recent tax tip:

TAPPING YOUR 401K

Try to avoid “Hardship withdrawals” from your 401k. They are taxable and can be subject to a 10% federal tax penalty. There may be waiting periods to get you reinstated in your employers plan.

Option: You can borrow generally up to 50 percent of your vested interest, but you must begin monthly payback payments. Check out all options before deciding what path to take. Keep in mind you don’t want to jeopardize your retirement savings.

If you would like to receive an occasional tax tip, visit PBS Tax and Bookkeeping Service or call 800-697-5153. You'll actually talk to a live person!

Don't forget to visit us at the Mid-America Truck Show on March 27-29. We'll be in booth 63004. Drop by and see us.

Until next time, keep on truckin' and please drive safely, Uncle Sam needs every taxpayer he can get.

Your Comments Are Always Welcome
