Dear {FName},

We would like to say that the election is over and things are back to normal. However, all we can say for sure is that the election is over. As for things being back to normal, all we can really say about that is, if you want normal, turn to it on the dial of your washing machine. That appears to be all the normal we're going to get for now.

According to the American Trucking Association...

  • There are 3.5 million truck drivers in America.
  • The trucking industry employs about 8.7 million or about one in every 15 people working in the U.S.
  • Long-haul drivers average about 110,000 miles driving per year. That’s about 300 miles per day for every day of the year.
  • The trucking industry hauls on average 10.7 billion tons of freight annually – nearly 70 percent of the nation’s total freight.

Doesn't feel that big while you are running down the road alone does it?

Here is another statistic from the ATA, commercial trucks consume 53.9 billion gallons of fuel each year. About 39 billion gallons, or 73 percent, is diesel. Multiply that times four bucks a gallon!

Did you take The TruckDriver.com Newshound Survey?

Here are the results:

What is the primary source you use to keep up on the news and world or local events?

The Internet - 34%
Television - 29%
Radio - 20%
Daily/Weekly/Hometown Newspaper - 6%
Don't bother keeping up - 5%
Other Drivers - 4%
Spouse/Family Member - 2%

We have to admit, we were pleased to see the Internet at the top of the list. We were surprised however, that TV came in ahead of radio. Seems contrary to the nature of the business, doesn't it?

We hope you are able to spend some time with family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday and that you have a safe and happy holiday.

And, that you take the The TruckDriver.com Giving Thanks Survey.

Until next time, keep on truckin' and please drive safely.
