Subject: What's going to happen

I have been an owner operator for many years. With all the bail outs what has any one done for us??????

These big companies contact me all the time wanting me to lease on with them offering under a dollar a mile, and can't give straight answer about their fuel surcharge.

What does Big Brother want us to do, just give up?

I DON'T THINK SO. I have worked all my life to have what I have. And I am not going to lose it over bad choices. I hate changing jobs and a lot of guys need to think be for they jump. Just my insight,

An old school trucker.

Thanks

Speaking of bailouts, it looks like there may be more to come. The auto industry is on pins and needles as we go to press waiting to find out when, or if, the government is going to bail them out.

Last issue we offered up The TruckDriver.com Stupid Economy Survey to see how the economy was going to affect your holiday spirit.

Honestly, you didn’t exactly put us in the holiday spirit. Nearly 90% of you said you would be spending less on Christmas this year than last. With almost half of you saying, you weren't spending anything at all.

Here are the results:

Will the 'uncertainty' of the economy impact your holiday spending this year?
No, I'm spending more than last year - 3%
A little, I plan to spend about the same last year - 9%
Somewhat, I'm spending less than last year - 10%
Yes, I'm spending a lot less than last year - 33%
It already has, I'm not spending anything this year - 45%

After viewing the results, we wondered when you thought things were going to turn around. So, we came up with The TruckDriver.com Better Times Ahead Survey.

And, we truly hope there are better times ahead for all us.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday Season!

Until next time, keep on truckin' and please drive safely.
