Dear {FName},

It's the middle of March and time for March Madness!  For sports fans that means basketball, but for truckers it means The Mid-America Trucking Show !

HEALTHY TRUCKING ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (HTAA)
HEALTH AWARENESS WALK INSPIRES DRIVERS AT MATS

The HTAA Health Awareness Walk is the first of its kind fitness event to be held in the trucking industry and there’s no better place to kick it off than at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY. Drivers who are thinking about getting fit, wanting to stay healthy, or looking for tips to enhance their workouts are invited to join their fellow drivers, along with Bob Perry, “The Trucker Trainer” and The Trucking Solutions Group Driver Health Council on a 1.5 mile walk on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 8 a.m. There is no cost, but registration is required. Registrants will receive walk packets, while supplies last, with health information and giveaways so visit www.driverhealth.org today!

The average age of death for a truck driver is less than 61 years of age, 16 years younger than the average American, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. With these startling statistics, leaders in the trucking industry are working to make personal health and fitness a bigger concern for all truckers.

“This is a plea from driver to driver to get outside of your truck and work towards a healthier lifestyle,” says Linda Caffee, professional driver and chairman of the Trucking Solutions Group Driver Health Council. “We’re all in this together! This walk provides everyone with the opportunity to receive support from your fellow drivers and get on the road to better health.”

The Trucking Solutions Group Driver Health Council is a member of the Healthy Trucking Association of America and serves as the organization’s charter Driver Advisory Board. Together, they are developing programs that will be meaningful to the driver as well as the entire transportation industry. The Trucking Solutions Group Driver Health Council helps trucking professionals lead a healthier lifestyle while on the road through exercise and nutrition. They have regularly scheduled live interactive discussions to share tips and information with each other and guests. The organization’s members are credited for suggesting the walk to sponsors and assisting in the planning of the event.  The Healthy Trucking Association of America will be recognizing members of the Trucking Solutions Group Driver Health Council during the HTAA’s Healthy Trucking Executive Kickoff Brunch at the Mid-America Trucking Show on Thursday, March 25 at 9:30 a.m.

The HTAA Health Awareness Walk is a fun, non-competitive 1.5 mile course for anyone associated with the trucking industry. Registration is free and available online at www.driverhealth.org. Walkers can also register March 25 at the Mid-America Trucking Show HTAA/Driver HEALTH/Booth #65024, located at the West Wing – Driver Recruitment & Wellness Center and also the morning of the walk beginning at 7 a.m. March 26 in WHI (West Hall #1). All participants must be registered by 7:30 a.m. Registrants will receive walk packets, while supplies last, with health information and free giveaways. About HTAA
The Healthy Trucking Association of America was established as a result of alarming statistics concerning the unhealthiness of the professional truck driver population. Current statistics show that over-the-road professionals have an average life expectancy of less than 61 years and exhibit well above average occurrences of a wide variety of ailments and conditions, including high blood pressure, sleep apnea and obesity to name a few.  The HTAA offers programs to improve the health of professional drivers and has quickly evolved into the leading authority on driver health and wellness issues.

The mission of the Healthy Trucking Association of America is promoted via multiple lines of communication, including representation at all major transportation trade shows, their annual Healthy Trucking Summit, Healthy Trucking Brunches, an interactive website, a variety of digital media vehicles, a monthly newsletter, and the official monthly magazine of the HTAA, Driver HEALTH; which is the only magazine dedicated to the health and wellness of drivers.
