ATA Members Join President Trump for White House Tax Event
Drivers and Carrier Executives Highlight Benefits of Tax Cuts

American Trucking Associations was proud to have three member companies represent the industry at an event in the White House Rose Garden, highlighting the benefits of the Tax Cuts and Job Act signed into law in December 2017.

“Putting truckers in a position to have their voices heard on important issues is a critical part of what we do at ATA,” said ATA President and CEO Chris Spear. “Our industry could not ask for better representatives than these to talk about the benefits of the President’s tax reform package.”

Executives and employees from Werner Enterprises Inc., Crete Carrier Corporation and TCW Inc., were in attendance to share how the tax cuts have enabled the carriers to increase employee compensation, invest in new equipment and expand operations.

TCW was represented by President Dave Manning, chairman of ATA, and driver David Livingston; Werner was represented by President & CEO Derek Leathers and driver Quinton Ward, driver Marvin Fielder, and associate Kathryn Oswald; and Crete was represented by CEO & Chairman Tonn Ostergard, Vice Chair Holly Ostergard, and driver Jeff Tetzloff.

TruckDriver.com Carrier of the Month Smoker Craft Inc.

Smoker Craft Inc. is a boat manufacturing company, located just south of Goshen, IN in a town called New Paris.  They build small to medium pleasure craft boats.  They are looking for a few good men and/or women who would be willing to hire on as professional drivers in the capacity of Company Driver’s or Owner Operators.  The work is very easy and basic.  Driving the truck will be the hardest part of your job.  Smoker Craft delivers boats all over the lower 48 states as well as Canada.  If you’re able to cross into Canada, the income potential is that much greater.  Approximately 22% of their loads go into Canada, from East to West.

Whether you are a Company Driver or an Owner/Operator the job is still the same.  You will come to the plant, drop and hook and head off to your next destination.  Drop the empty trailer you hauled from the load before and hook onto a trailer/load all set to go.  All loading and strapping will be done when you arrive.

Trucker Buddy Boy Scout Event a Big Success

Trucker Buddy and the Lincoln Heritage Scout Council partnered to bring over 70 Scouts, Scouting leaders and parents to the Mid America Trucking Show. Each Scout earned his Truck Transportation and Traffic Safety Merit Badges with instruction by Scout Leader Pat Shanahan and with help from industry professionals David Hollis, Kevin Tomlinson and Chuck Lobsiger. The scouts then took a tour of the trucking industry by visiting selected show booths from East Manufacturing and Shell Rotella. Booth personnel gave them insight into and examples of new technology as well as general information about how the trucking industry affects their everyday lives. Thanks to our sponsors and the Mid America Truck Show who helped us make this so successful.
