ATRI Report Examines Industry Views on Driver-facing and Road-facing Cameras

The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) on Wednesday released a new report that investigates trucking industry attitudes and concerns when it comes to driver-facing and road-facing cameras (DFCs/RFCs).


The research hoped to better understand truck driver issues and perceptions associated with the use of DFCs, and to understand DFCs’ role in claims and litigation processes.


It identified points of consensus and potential compromise on in-cab camera systems and policies among truck drivers, motor carriers, legal experts and insurers. Based on the analysis, the report proposes strategies for expanding both driver approval and camera utilization with an eye to improve safety, privacy, litigation and insurance risk management.

Women in Trucking Association Awards Truck to Female Owner-Operator

The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) announced the winner of its second truck give-away in the last five years. WIT gave away a 2018 Volvo VNL670 truck, which includes a Volvo VED13 engine and a double-bunk sleeper, to Angelique Temple, owner-operator of Virginia-based Tornado Transport LLC during WIT’s Salute to Women Behind the Wheel event March 31 at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky. The truck was donated by Kansas City-based Arrow Truck Sales, which is a source of used heavy- and medium-duty trucks with locations across the U.S. and Canada.

Biden-Harris Administration Announces Nearly $300 Million for 9 Bridge Projects as Part of Investing in America Agenda

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) today announced nearly $300 million for nine small and medium-sized bridge projects in both rural and urban areas in eight states and the District of Columbia. The grants from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Bridge Investment Program are an integral part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda to rebuild our infrastructure and grow our economy from the middle out and bottom up. It comes on top of billions of dollars in other bridge and highway funding already flowing to every U.S. state and territory that is helping communities rebuild, repair, and replace tens of thousands of bridges across the nation and restoring connections that are vital to commuters, emergency responders, truck drivers, public transit riders, and more.
