FreightWaves Gets It Wrong on Driver Shortage

FreightWaves CEO Craig Fuller calls the truck driver shortage a “myth” in a recent piece of self-promotion, but his assertion collapses under the weight of facts and data.

Fuller claims the shortage is an ATA fabrication—a narrative perpetuated for our convenience. Of course, we’re not alone in reporting this issue. Driver shortages are global in scope, with growing vacancies felt across the Americas, Asia, and Europe, and documented in IRU’s2022 Global Driver Shortage Report.

Percentage of Female Safety Professionals in Transportation Increases

According to new data from the 2023 WIT Index, which was recently released by the Women In Trucking Association (WIT), the percentage of female safety professionals in corporations with for-hire or private fleets in the commercial freight transportation industry continues to increase. The WIT Index is an industry barometer to benchmark and measure each year the percentage of women who make up critical roles in transportation.

American Substance Abuse Professionals has “Miles of Gratitude”

for America’s Truck Drivers during 2023 National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

American Substance Abuse Professionals (ASAP), along with American Trucking Associations and the entire trucking industry began a weeklong celebration of the millions of professional truck drivers who deliver America’s freight safely and securely every day.

“During the best, and worst times, our nation’s professional truck drivers work hard delivering goods,” to the American people,” said Sandra Serrano, Chief Development Officer (CDO) of ASAP. “National Truck Driver Appreciation week is a time to honor our professional truck drivers and show them the appreciation they deserve daily. We are thrilled to recognize these individuals who show their dedication, perseverance, and determination on our nation’s highways.”
