Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) Announces Participation in Wreaths Across America’s Truckloads of Remembrance to Raise Awareness and Support for the Mission

TCA is proud to announce its participation in the nationwide Truckloads of Remembrance in partnership with the nonprofit Wreaths Across America (WAA). Numerous TCA members continually volunteer with WAA, whether hauling wreaths to cemeteries or participating in National Wreaths Across America Day in December, and TCA is excited to take part in this program.

ATA Commends House Appropriators for Pushing Hair Testing Forward

The American Trucking Associations applauded a provision in the House’s funding bill for the Department of Health and Human Services that would press HHS to establish hair testing guidance.   The legislation passed the House Appropriations Committee today by a vote of 31-25.

ATA strongly supports the recognition of hair testing as a federally accepted drug testing method.  Giving trucking companies the option to use hair testing as an alternative to urinalysis in meeting federal drug testing requirements would unlock tremendous cost and safety benefits for the trucking industry and the motoring public.  Although it has been nearly a decade since Congress mandated that HHS create a procedure for hair testing, the guidelines have yet to be finalized.

171K drivers face looming commercial license downgrades in November

Thousands of truck drivers risk losing their commercial driving privileges in a matter of months due to violations recorded in a federal drug and alcohol database.

According to a report recently released by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), a total of 171,361 CDL and CLP holders are listed in “Prohibited” status in the agency’s Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse as of June 1, 2024. The previous Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse report listed 163,318 CDL and CLP holders in “Prohibited” status.
