Here we are, two weeks into 2016 and we can’t help but wonder, have you kept your New Year’s Resolution?
We didn’t make any this year, based on our previous experiences we figured why bother, sure looks like it’s going to be an interesting year though!

Women In Trucking Seeking Industry Professionals for Image Team
Women In Trucking Association (WIT) is seeking trucking industry professionals for the 2016 Image Team.
WIT’s mission is to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments, and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking industry. The purpose of the Image Team is to represent these goals while bringing awareness of the need for more women in the trucking industry and the obstacles that women face.
These female professionals will be the face of Women In Trucking by attending major truck shows, writing articles from their point of view, and giving media interviews. They will speak articulately and enthusiastically about the trucking industry. These women will also serve as mentors for new Image Team members.
This year, WIT is opening the Image Team application process to all industry professionals, not limiting to drivers. This means that any professional within the industry is welcome to apply (i.e. driver, technician, dispatcher, etc.). The applicant must have an outstanding safety record and speak convincingly about her commitment to safety. She will represent the trucking industry’s best.
“We are excited to be adding to our current WIT Image Team. The first year was successful and we look forward to growing that impact,” said Ellen Voie, President and CEO, Women In Trucking. “Women are still an anomaly in the trucking industry and the media is often intrigued to learn more about the females who are perceived as doing a ‘man’s job.’ This diverse Image Team will break that stereotype and will serve as role models for the women who enter the trucking industry in the future."
Nominations will be accepted through January 31, 2016. Applications can be found on the WIT website (http://womenintrucking.org/imageteam).
The top ten qualifying applications will participate in a selection interview in February. The 2016 Image Team will be announced at the Salute to Women Behind the Wheel event at the Mid-America Trucking Show held in Louisville, KY on April 2, 2016.

Federal Companies
Founded in Peoria, Illinois in 1913, Federal steadily built its reputation by providing the highest quality service available in the moving and storage business. As Federal grew, they identified other related transportation needs for a high quality service provider in the marketplace. To service those needs, Federal diversified into a number of businesses primarily centered on the transportation of household goods, high-value equipment/displays and logistics services. All of these wholly owned subsidiaries focus on providing a more complete line of services to their customers while maintaining the strategy that Federal was built upon—to be the high quality service provider in the industry. Now the fourth generation of the founding family, the Federal Companies has grown from a single location in Peoria, its corporate headquarters, to one of the largest privately owned moving, storage and logistics companies in the country.
Drivers for Federal can expect a personal touch by being called by their name and not by a number. Federal has positions available to Class A & B drivers at all locations.

Women In Trucking Foundation Now Accepting Scholarship Applications
The Women In Trucking (WIT) Foundation was formed in 2011 to provide financial assistance to anyone pursuing education in the area of safety, truck driving, leadership, or as a technician. Since 2013, the organization has awarded 24 men and women scholarships. The Women In Trucking (WIT) Foundation recently conducted its second annual holiday auction which raised $1,628 for its scholarship fund.
The WIT Foundation is encouraging anyone attending a training facility to submit a scholarship application at http://www.womenintruckingfoundation.org/scholarship/.
Applications will be accepted through the end of January and award recipients will be notified in February.
Anyone pursuing a career in the trucking industry may apply. Membership in the Women In Trucking Association is not a prerequisite (although certainly encouraged). Scholarships are not limited to women, either.
